Who We Are
The Florida Food Policy Council (FLFPC) is a statewide, community-centered organization advancing policies and partnerships that strengthen Florida’s food system from the ground up.
We work at the intersection of food, land, climate, health, and economic opportunity, bringing together farmers, community leaders, advocates, researchers, policymakers, and other partners to shape solutions that reflect Florida’s diverse communities and realities.
FLFPC works to turn community knowledge into policy action. Through research, collaboration, convenings, technical assistance, and policy engagement, we support efforts that expand food access, strengthen local food systems and economies, protect land and natural resources, and ensure the people most affected by food-system decisions have a meaningful voice in shaping them.

What Is a Food Policy Council?
A food policy council brings together people and organizations from across the food system to identify challenges, share knowledge, build partnerships, and develop policies that improve how food is grown, distributed, accessed, and governed.
Food policy councils create space for community members, farmers, advocates, researchers, businesses, health professionals, and policymakers to work together on food-system issues that affect their communities.

What Does Food Policy Mean?
Food policy includes the laws, regulations, programs, investments, and public decisions that shape how food is grown, distributed, accessed, and supported.
This can include agriculture and land use, food access and affordability, labor conditions, public health, climate resilience, local economies, community ownership, and other factors that influence Florida's food system.
OUR APPROACH — HOW WE CREATE CHANGE

FLFPC believes lasting food-system change begins with the knowledge, experiences, and leadership of communities.
We connect community knowledge with research, partnerships, policy development, investment, and implementation to help move ideas into action.
Our approach is grounded in listening, collaboration, evidence, and accountability supporting solutions that are informed by the people and communities most affected by food-system decisions.
